Near the smallest garden stone, Clover found a flower that had opened overnight. Its petals were pale, almost cream, with a warm pink center.
Clover thought about pressing it into the tiny notebook. Then Clover saw Puddle searching the same patch of path for a treasure that had rolled away.
Without saying much, Clover placed the flower beside Puddle’s jar.
“I found this for you,” Clover whispered.
Puddle’s eyes became very wide. The missing treasure was forgotten for a moment, because a thoughtful gift had become the best discovery of the day.
